HYDROVAC INFORMS DESIGN CHANGE
Project Summary
The Hydrovac Company was contracted to provide daylighting services for the expansion of a pharmaceuticals plant in Edmonton. We were responsible for identifying underground utilities and infrastructure ahead of the installation of new piles.
In addition to locating utilities, our crews discovered the presence of massive concrete slabs 3 m (9.8 ft) below ground. This insight led the engineers to devise a new strategy that involved repositioning the pile locations.

Key Challenges
The Hydrovac Company was asked to hydrovac pilot holes for foundations piling system. Normally, this would not be a challenge. However, the standard hose on hydrovac truck is 8 m (26 ft). Many of the pilot holes would require us to use hose lengths up to 60 m (200 ft), due to restricted access. Fortunately, the high capacity blowers on our advanced truck allowed us to maintain the necessary pressure for efficient production. In fact, the project was completed ahead of schedule.
